The main road in the Atiu – which is a coral island in the northern Cook Islands, runs along the top of the island. Every minimalist store, one airport depot and seven churches cluster together along the white coral gravel singular road.

Despite looking battered and worn, the airport tin shed “arrivals” lounge is clustered with eager rellies holding flower “ai’s’ to throw over you and fresh pineapples to crack. If you are lucky, you will be spoilt with one of Aunties shaved coconut, fruit salads.
