Taking inspiration from the land around me in New Zealand’s Wairarapa region – pristine mountain ranges, dramatic winding rivers and gorges and English botanical gardens with plants and gardens some over 100 years in the making… the Māori term “Wairarapa” translates to ‘glistening waters’.
Large walnut and oak trees dwarfed the local gardens and winter-stripped apple orchards until just the Skeleton of the plants remained, natural shades and misty weather with frosty mornings provided a rich tapestry to work with!
The series encapsulates local Māori swimming and camping spots, connection with the land and sky and indigenous ancestry.
